A group is a few people who’ve agreed to see each other’s period dates. You make one, send your friends a link, and from then on the Groups tab shows everyone on one timeline. That’s the whole idea. There’s no feed, no comments and no public profile.
Groups come with the app. You don’t need Plum Premium to create one, join one or see what your friends share.
What a group is for
Mostly for the people you already talk to about this. Housemates who want to know why everyone’s tired the same week. Friends planning a trip. A partner who’d rather see the date than ask. What members see
Period dates only. Each member shows their last period, their next expected one and whether they’re on their period today. Nobody sees your notes, symptoms, mood, fertile window or phase, ever, and the full list of what stays private is short enough to read in a minute.
Step by step
- Open the Groups tab and tap Create a group. Give it a name, up to 40 characters. You can rename it later.
- Tap Invite friends and send the link. Plum makes a link for the group. Share it in whatever chat you already use with those friends. The link is the only way in, and it holds a ten-character code that can’t be guessed.
- Friends tap the link. If they have Plum, the group opens and they join with one tap. If they don’t, the link shows the group’s name and sends them to the App Store, and Plum offers the group as soon as they’ve signed in. If a link ever fails to open the app, Join with a link on the Groups tab takes the pasted link or its code.
- See each other on one timeline. The group screen lists every member with their last period, their next expected period and whether they’re on their period today. Everyone in the group gets a note when somebody new joins.
Common questions
Can I share my period with just one person, like a partner?
Yes, by making a group with the two of you in it. Plum has no separate partner mode. A partner joins a group the same way a friend does, with the invite link, and sees the same things a friend would.
How many people can be in a Plum group?
Up to 100. A full group turns the invite link off until someone leaves.
Can I be in more than one group?
Yes. Each group has its own sharing switch, so you can share your cycle with one group and only your exercise days with another.
Does everyone in the group need an iPhone?
Yes, for now. Plum is an iPhone app, and there isn’t an Android version yet, so a friend on Android can’t join a group.
Who runs the group?
Whoever created it is the admin. The admin can rename the group, reset the invite link, remove a member and delete the group. If the admin leaves, the role passes to one of the remaining members.
Is the invite link public?
No. It isn’t listed anywhere, and the code inside it is long enough that nobody can guess it. Anyone you send it to can join, though, so if it gets forwarded somewhere you didn’t intend, reset it from the group settings and the old link stops working.
